This 118-acre preserve on Pine Island includes pine flatwoods and mangrove forest plant communities. It has also had an active bald eagle nest for more than 20 years. This preserve is open to the public for hiking. However, visitors during eagle nesting season (October-May) are asked to please avoid the Eagle Nest Observation Platform and not disturb the nesting eagles. Eagles are protected under state and federal law. The trailhead is located along Castile Road, just off Stringfellow Road.
